Part-Time Operations Assistant

Schedule: The chosen candidate must be available to work shifts during the hours of 8:00 am and 5:30 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Compensation: This position starts at $15.00 per hour and includes paid holiday time.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Assist staff in directing and supervising volunteers as they complete daily tasks, including sorting and organizing food/product donations, stocking grocery shelves, and carrying out work related to Client Services and grocery distribution.
- Assist staff to prepare for and oversee daily Client Service operations.
- Assist with facility opening and closing procedures.
- Assist staff and volunteers with in-kind donation receiving process, donation sorting, and stocking/organization in storage and distribution areas.
- Assist staff with oversight of warehouse and pantry spaces: includes maintaining the cleanliness of product and facility, keeping workspaces functional and organized, making sure all incoming and outgoing in-kind donations are processed and recorded correctly, and managing storage spaces.
- Assist staff with the coordination and delivery of grocery orders to clients.
- Help to maintain accuracy and organization of all client files and information, including an electronic client database and physical forms and files.
- Establish and maintain productive, courteous relationships with staff, clients, volunteers, vendors, donors, and the general public.
- Support and foster an environment that is welcoming and positive for all. Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, volunteers, staff, and community members using various communication methods (in-person, telephone, email) in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.
- Operate Food Bank vehicle(s) as needed (pick-ups, deliveries, etc.).
- Support other staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience for the Position:
- The ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift at least 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Experience working with and supervising others is preferred.
- Previous non-profit and volunteer experience is desirable.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, to use independent judgment, and to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, donors, and clients.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and have the ability to operate Food Bank vehicle(s) as needed (pick-ups, deliveries, etc.)
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously with effective and efficient time management skills and exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with and serve diverse clientele and colleagues.
- Ability to provide equitable services and support to SCFB clients.
- Proficiency in using a variety of technology is required: including telephone systems, office equipment, computers, email, and Microsoft Office.
- Food safety training and strong knowledge of food handling practices is desirable.
- The ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher preferred.
