Together we can help our community

Dear Friends,

As a community, we are all concerned about what the current health situation means for us and our neighbors, and especially for the most vulnerable members of our community. During this uncertain time, State College Food Bank would like to remind everyone that we are here to help.

Many people have reached out to the Food Bank asking what they can do to help our neighbors in need.

Here is how you can make the biggest impact:

  • Most importantly, if you or someone you know needs help with food, please have them call the Food Bank at (814) 234-2310 so we can determine the best way to assist them.
  • The State College Area School District has asked that we share the following information regarding their drive-by lunch program, and we ask that you share it too, in hopes of reaching as many families as possible.
    • “The State College Area School District invites families and care-givers to drive through and pick up meals for their children beginning on Monday, March 16. Lunches and breakfast for the following day will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Children must be present in order for meals to be provided. Pick up is available Monday through Friday at the State College High School Bus Loop (11:00am-12:30pm), Weis Market Parking Lot, North Atherton Street (11:00am-12:30pm), and Ashworth Woods Apartments, Boalsburg (11:30am-12:30pm). Contact the SCASD Food Service Department at 814.231.5095 or mas15@scasd.org if you have any questions.”
  • The Food Bank assists not only those who meet specific financial qualifications but also those who may exceed these qualifications and are still facing financial difficulty. Financial donations to the Food Bank give our staff the flexibility to purchase in-demand items in bulk and serve as many individuals and families as possible, regardless of income. The items we purchase with private funds can also be shared with other food pantries and social service agencies in outlying areas if and when they need extra support. Financial gifts can be given online from the safety and comfort of your own home via our website scfoodbank.org.
  • Donations of food, paper goods, and toiletries are always appreciated. Please check our Current Needs list on our website (scfoodbank.org) so that you can make sure your contributions are having the biggest impact. Also, please refer to our website for the most current donation hours.

As always, our staff and Board of Directors expresses their gratitude for the incredible support that not only the Food Bank receives but that our community receives from donors, businesses, organizations and friends. Your kindness fuels our efforts to provide hunger relief for hundreds of struggling individuals and families in Centre County.
