Supporting the Food Bank during COVID-19

On behalf of our staff, board, volunteers and clients, we are grateful for your ongoing support and the many inquiries we have received during this critical time. Following is an updated and consolidated resource for our clients, donors, and volunteers:

Client

The State College Food Bank is currently operating during regular hours. We will post updates here and on our Facebook page if our schedule changes.  Please note that the free shelves in our front lobby will be closed until further notice.

If you are a current client and you are ill, please consider sending a proxy such as a friend, family member,  or neighbor to pick-up your food.   If you are a current client and unable to send a proxy, please call ahead to schedule an appointment for grocery pick-up.  The Food Bank's phone number is 814.234.2310.

We encourage everyone to follow the advice of the department of health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help stop the spread of germs and illness.

Food donations

Please consult our NEEDS LIST which is updated on an ongoing basis. While all donations are appreciated, this list includes items for which demand is high and/or supply may be low.

Food donation drop-off times:
Mon 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
Wed 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Fri 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

Please also review the lists of items that the Food Bank cannot accept as well as non-food items that can be accepted.

To reduce foot traffic in and out of the building, please leave donation in the bins to the left of our side donation door.

Financial donations

You can support the Food Bank from home by giving online. You can make a one-time or recurring gift. The Food Bank assists not only those who meet specific financial qualifications but also those who may exceed these qualifications and are still facing financial difficulty. Financial donations to the Food Bank give our staff the flexibility to purchase in-demand items in bulk and serve as many individuals and families as possible, regardless of income. The items we purchase with private funds can also be shared with other food pantries and social service agencies in outlying areas, if and when they need extra support.

Volunteering

We are anticipating a need for additional volunteers as the COVID-19 crisis continues. In light of this, we are asking anyone interested in volunteering to call the Food Bank at (814) 234-2310. You will be required to complete an application. If possible, complete it in advance and email a copy to volunteer@scfoodbank.org.

The State College Food Bank would like to extend a very heartfelt "Thank You!" to all of our corporate sponsors and community members who are supporting us through this unprecedented time. THANK YOU!
