Exciting news from the State College Food Bank!

Dear Friends,

It is with great excitement that I share some big news with you. The State College Food Bank is moving!

We have been so very fortunate that, as the number of our neighbors-in-need has grown, so has the generosity of the community. It is that generosity and kindness that fuels us and our work. Friends and donors like you make it possible for us to provide hunger relief for hundreds of residents in Centre County, both individuals and families. Your support is invaluable to us!

Since the Food Bank’s move eight years ago, we have seen exponential growth in both programs and services. Staff and volunteers have continually found creative ways to manage this growth, from utilizing off-site storage at the Nittany Mall to rearranging pallets and shelves throughout the workday to make space for donation sorting and storage. And, of course, we need to make sure that people can move around the building freely and safely. With the upcoming move to a larger facility, the Food Bank will have some more room to breathe.

The State College Food Bank, currently located at 1321 South Atherton Street, will purchase and move into a larger space at 169 Gerald Street, just off of East College Avenue. We anticipate beginning renovations in the Summer of 2023 with a move taking place when renovations are completed. The sale of the current building will fund the purchase of a larger facility and allow us to serve more people with added space, more parking, consolidated storage, and more.

It is clear to us that our community doesn't want anyone to go hungry, and the State College Food Bank continues to answer that call. By moving to a larger facility, we can vastly increase our ability to serve the community and to help our partner organizations who are serving those in need throughout Centre County. Although our name and location are based in State College, our mission and vision extend well beyond that. With a new and improved facility, we will be able to do even more to ensure that one day, no one goes hungry in Centre County.

Thank you for helping us get this far. We are excited and looking forward to the future!
